I looked in the mirror and realized that while I was doing okay, I wasn’t quite where I wanted to be. The holidays had me a bit sluggish, fluffy, and craving all the things!

Let me tell you a little story. A few weeks ago, I looked in the mirror and realized that while I was doing okay, I wasn’t quite where I wanted to be. The holidays had me a bit sluggish, fluffy, and craving all the things! So, I decided to shift gears and really focus on dialing in my habits – and in just three weeks, I’ve dropped 1.8% body fat.

Here’s what worked for me:

  • Accurately tracking my macros: Getting precise with my food intake made all the difference. No more "Calorie-free" Christmas cookies" or extra sips of wine without tracking it! I track everything in the 1st Phorm app.

  • Increasing my protein intake: I bumped up my daily protein by 20 grams, bringing my total to 150g. Protein is key for building lean muscle, burning fat and boosting metabolism. This was a simple fix by adding just one protein lemonade a day!

  • Daily movement: I hit my step goal every day, no excuses. Consistent movement keeps your metabolism humming.

  • BBfit 30-minute workouts:These efficient, strength-focused sessions are perfect for busy women like us who don’t have time to spend hours at the gym.

Boosting your metabolism in your 40s doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are a few additional strategies that can help:

  • Strength train regularly:Muscle burns more calories than fat, even at rest. Prioritize resistance training a few times per week.

  • Stay hydrated: Your body needs water for almost every process, including calorie-burning. Keep a water bottle with you and sip throughout the day.

  • Don’t skimp on sleep: Poor sleep can wreak havoc on your hormones, slowing your metabolism. Aim for 7-8 hourseach night.

  • Eat enough food: A common mistake is eating too little, which can cause your body to hold on to fat. Fuel your body with balanced meals.

If I can do it, so can you! And if you need help with your nutrition or fitness, I am here to help! :) Becky
